Seattle Surgery Center Pre-Operative Instructions

Hello! We are happy you have chosen Seattle Neuro and Spine Surgery for your care. We would appreciate you doing a few things in preparation for your care at Seattle Surgery Center.

Medical Clearance

You may be required to see your primary care physician and cardiologist for preoperative evaluation. Not everyone needs this, you will be directed by our office.

Labs & EKG

You may need to get lab work and an EKG, this will be directed by our office.

COVID Testing

Due to the pandemic you will need to get a COVID test.

Following the test you will need to quarantine until the time of your surgery.

If you are not contacted to schedule this test please let us know so we may assist in getting the test performed.

Medication To Stop

You will need to stop aspirin, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories, blood thinners, and immune modulators. This will be directed by your surgeon, primary doctor, or cardiologist.

You will need to stop all herbal supplements 7 days prior to surgery.

You will need to stop Metformin 24 hours prior to surgery, or reduce the dose of insulin the morning of surgery.

Do Not Eat Or Drink

Do not eat or drink anything for 8 hours prior to surgery. Morning medications may be taken with a small sip of water.

Hibiclens

You will need to bathe with Hibiclens soap the night before and the morning of your surgery. This is available without a prescription at most drug stores.

Do Not Wear

On the day of surgery do not wear jewelry, cosmetics, lotions, deodorant, or perfume.

Arrive Ahead

Please arrive 1 hour before your scheduled surgery at Seattle Surgery Center.
